To describe Kevin Pietersen as a trailblazer would be an understatement. Rejected by own his country, Pietersen eventually joined the England cricket team and became a superstar overnight. From his flashy hairstyles to devastating batting, Pietersen is a true superstar of the game that has terrorised bowling units all over the world.
This was also true when he made his way into the IPL. Bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a cool £1.1 million, Pietersen was the highest paid IPL cricketer at the time. He was later bought by the now defunct Deccan Chargers in 2011 and finally found a home in Delhi Daredevils in 2012.
After ending his IPL career, he played for Surrey CCC where he pummelled the opposition and made the highest individual score by a Surrey batsman since 1899. 326 runs came off just 373 deliveries which included 34 boundaries and 14 sixes. Needless to say, the Leicestershire bowling attack were rendered useless in front of the mighty Pietersen.
The charismatic cricketer retired from the sport in 2017 and took up the mic duties. In the video below he talks about the highs and lows of his career and what the IPL meant to him. Pietersen was also vocal about IPL 2020 being the biggest tournament of the year before the coronavirus managed to postpone it by a month.
