Match 28: RR vs SRH
The 28th game of the season took place between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday. The former team came up with the win by 55 runs after what seemed to be a one-sided game right from the start.
The Royals were put to bat after losing the toss which, in retrospect, was the best thing that could happen to them. After losing Yashasvi early on, Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson established their dominance over the bowling of Sunrisers Hyderabad with a 150-run partnership from just under 14 overs. Samson supported Buttler with his mature knock of 48 from 33 balls. Buttler, on the other hand, went on a striking spree, scoring a whopping 124 runs from just 64 balls before playing on to the stumps in the penultimate over. The Royals set a hard target of 221 at the end of the first innings.
In response, the Sunrisers got off to a pretty decent start, with Manish Pandey and Jonny Bairstow scoring at almost 10 runs per over. Pandey’s dismissal by Mustafizur seemed to be the turning point of the game as the run rate fell sharply post that. The Sunrisers lost wickets at regular intervals thanks to a brilliant spell of 3/29 from Chris Morris. In the end, Jos Buttler was awarded the player of the match for his brilliant knock.
