Match 8: PBKS Vs CSK
The eighth match of the IPL between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Wankhede was mostly one-sided. The low-scoring match gave Chennai Super Kings their first win of the season and Punjab, their first loss.
The domination started right from the beginning with Chennai bowlers restricting the Kings to a mere 106 with the loss of 8 wickets. Deepak Chahar was the pick among the bowlers with his impressive four-wicket haul for which he was awarded the player of the match. Shahrukh Khan, once again, showed resilience with his 47 runs of 36 balls. Shahrukh and Richardson’s 31-run partnership added much-needed runs to the Kings’ total.
After the performance with the ball, CSK were off to a slow start, scoring only 8 runs in the first 3 overs. Faf du Plessis picked up the attack by scoring at a steady pace. His 36 of 33 followed by Moeen Ali’s 46 of 31 were key contributors to the easy win. Even Shami’s impressive spell of 21/2 in 4 overs did not deter them from the target. The winning runs came off Sam Curran’s bat as CSK chased down the target with 26 balls to spare.
